Strategies Toolkit

In Math today, students used the "guess and check" strategy, using objects, to solve a problem. Students had to use ALL of the beads to make a repeating pattern. There were many correct solutions!

No School Tomorrow!

During Math Facts time today, students completed their +/- Post test.  I am super pleased with the growth that was towards mastering this strategy! Next week, our focus is +/- 1! To end the week, we played the Adding & Subtracting Zero Horse Race game....super fun!

Taking some time to chill with a good book at the end of the day!

Tuesday, 15 September 2015

We had our first Library block today!

During Math Facts, we continued our focus on the Plus/Minus Zero Strategy.  Using a deck of cards, we wrote addition and subtraction sentences.  We learned that when we add numbers, the order does not matter.  8 + 0 = 8 and 0 + 8 = 8!

We began our first unit, Looking At Places,  in Social Studies today by working through a textbook Scavenger Hunt.  Students were super excited to browse through their very first textbook!
