Rainbow Words

**Rainbow words will begin October **

Each student in our class has been given a key ring with words on it.  The words come from the first/second grade sight word list.  These words will be stored in your child’s home reading bag and need to be practiced every night along home reading and word sorts.  Through repeated exposure and practice of the words, your child should be able to say each word as soon as he/she sees it, without hesitation.  The repetition of these words will increase reading fluency and accelerate reading levels.  The words need to come back and forth between school and home every week in the take-home reading bag. Please help your child keep track of his/her words, and remember to practice them each night!  You will be amazed at the difference it will make in your child’s reading!

Students will be assessed on their words weekly.  Once your child can identify the words to his/her teacher on two separate occasions, with no hesitation, he/she will be given a new set of words to study.  

Rainbow Colours

Red (a, all, and, are, at, but, can, for, have, I, in, is, it, me)
