2C rocked it today!!  The afternoon and evening Christmas Concert performances were outstanding!  Way to go!  Thank you to all of the moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles who came out to watch; the students loved performing for you!

We had an extra tasty day today!  In the morning, the new RBES smoothie cart was in our room.  Students created a smoothie with: orange juice, cranberry juice, yogurt, banana, mixed berries, avocado and spinach.  The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive!  We can't wait for our next smoothie cart day!

Today was a concert-a-palooza!

We walked through a couple rehearsals of our Christmas Concert.  It's coming along nicely.  Please be sure your child continues to rehearse their concert song at home.

Little Drummer Boy
Come they told me
Pa rum pum pum pum

Our new born King to see,
Pa rum pum pum pum

Our finest gifts we bring
Pa rum pum pum pum

To lay before the King
Pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum

So to honor Him
Pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby
Pa rum pum pum pum

I am a poor boy too,
Pa rum pum pum pum

I have no gift to bring
Pa rum pum pum pum

That's fit to give our King
Pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum

Shall I play for you
Pa rum pum pum
On my drum.

Mary nodded
Pa rum pum pum pum

The ox and lamb kept time
Pa rum pum pum pum

I played my drum for Him

Happy National Hot Cocoa Day!
We are hard at work completing our Meteghan unit in Social studies. Today we discussed that many people in Meteghan have jobs related to the Natural Resources found there. We also learned that a Natural Resource (lobster) is a Good, when it's sold for money. Meteghan sells many goods, such as fish, seafood and wood products made in factories.

We also reviewed counting by 2, 5 (backwards is tricky!) and 10s forward and backwards!

Reminders:
- Comfy couch tickets are on sale!  Purchase yours now for a chance to have the best seat in the house for our concert!

Bring a mug for National Cocoa Day

Thank you to Ms. Huculak for providing the ingredients for December's Tasty Tuesday!

In Social, students learned the term, natural resource, and discussed natural resources that are found in the community of Metehgan.  Ask your child how many natural resources they can name.

In Math, we continued our review of skip counting. Students should be able to count to 100 by 1, 2, 5 and 10.  This is a great skill to practice while driving around or during supper!

Reminder:

Payment for the Canadian Cultural Days is available on Powerschool.

Today we were thrilled to see Candy Cane hanging from a green balloon and especially happy that he was able to get his magic back!

Students were very excited to try their third Daily 5 activity today, Word Work.  In our class, there are 7 different Word Work activities that students can choose from.  Over the next day or two, we will be working through the 7 activities in order to become familiar with each one.  Word Work is an opportunity for students to review their Word Wall Words (rainbow words) in a fun and interactive way.

In Social Studies, we continued our discussions on traditions celebrated by the Acadians of Meteghan. Their music and dancing had quite a few of us tapping our toes. We are all looking forward to sampling some of their tasty foods at Meteghan's Cultural Day next week! If you haven't already, please complete the Powerschool payment.

In Math, we reviewed the concept of Greater Than, Less Than and Equal to, using playing cards and symbol cards.  This is an activity you could play at home.  Always remember that the alligator eats the larger number. We have also been practicing counting by 10s. Students should be able to count by 10s starting at any number (i.e.: 10, 20, 30 40 or 36, 46, 56, 55).  Students made groups of 10 with the goal of organizing 100 items.

Students spent some time today, designing their Avitar, and completing patterns as they were introduced to Mathletics. Their log in information will be sent home on Friday.

Welcome to 2C, Candy Cane!

Students in 2C were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of our Elf, Candy Cane. We are all looking forward to seeing what mischief he might get into over the next few weeks.
