The first day back to school is always filled with many emotions, including nervous jitters! We enjoyed the story, The First Day Jitters, and then chased our jitters away with some Jitter Juice.  After completing a data analysis activity and graphing their results, students discovered that 17/19 of the students in our class enjoyed the tasty beverage!

We spent the afternoon getting to know each other by completing a Name Word Search and White Board Introductions where we shared our favorite foods, animals and thing to do!

It was a pleasure meeting many of you this evening at the Meet the Teacher BBQ!  I am excited for all the fun, adventures and learning we will have in 2C over the next 10 months. 

Important notes:

The first day of classes will be September 4, 2018.  The doors open at 8:20, come on down to the classroom with your child. 

In grade two, we do not have desks and will use some of our school supplies communally. This means that we share some of the supplies brought in at the beginning of the year among all of the students (specifically - pencils, erasers, pencil crayons, highlighters and glue). This helps to minimize waste, foster a sense of community in the classroom, and teach the importance of sharing. At the end of the year, remaining supplies will be divided evenly between students and sent home to reuse. The best news is that you will not need to label your child's supplies!!

The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 4.  This will be a full day. Please call the school if your child is going to be absent that first morning. This is very important as we juggle changes in our registration numbers on that first day.

Today was our last day of swimming lessons! I am impressed by how much they have improved over the 2 weeks!

2C is super excited about taking care of our class pets!

We are continuing to plug away at completing our 'Subtraction to 100' unit. This week, students were introduced to subtraction with regrouping. 

In Writing, we started our last piece of narrative writing, Realistic Fiction. Students have created a main character and 2-3 supporting characters for their stories.

Today students completed their Google Slides, Comparing Communities assignment. I am pleasantly surprised with their abilities to input data and insert pictures!! WOW!

It's Raining....It's Pouring...2C still goes swimming!
