Today we began our week-long Rage Revolution dance residency with Leo from SondKreations. Leo is Cuban born professional dancer who has been dancing for over 25 years. Today students learned two dances, the Reggaeton - a Puerto Rican dance and also the Bachata - a dance which originated in the Dominican Republic. Leo taught students how to count beats of 8 in Spanish and also a few new Spanish words. We can't wait for tomorrow!

Today students had an amazing experience. Eric, a professional lacrosse player from British Columbia, came to RBES to share the sport with the students. He explained that lacrosse is Canada's national sport and that the sport itself is older than our country. He taught students the three parts of their lacrosse stick and then they had the opportunity to practice several skills. What a fun PE class!!
In Social Studies, we talked about the Cree, Blackfoot and Metis people of the Saskatoon area. We also discussed how the railway brought the European settlers, the Ukrainians, British, and Germans, who settled in the area. They chose the area because of the rich soil, which was perfect for farming.
See you all this evening. Student Led Conference open house 3:30-7:00. Please arrive no later than 6:30, so you will have time to work through the stations with your child.

We were able to depart YEG before the heavy snow started and landed safely in Saskatoon. Students researched the many hotels in Saskatoon and chose where they wanted to stay. Most students based their decisions on the hotel pool!
We were able to take advantage of the fresh snow this afternoon and head out snowshoeing! So much fun!

Unfortunately, due to the wind chill and frigid temperatures, we were unable to go snowshoeing this afternoon. We are hoping to make it out on Friday afternoon.
We are all too familiar with Indoor recesses lately, so why not write about it! Students were asked whether they preferred indoor or outdoor recess. Students broke into groups and brainstormed reasons why they preferred one or the other.
In Math, we used pictures to understand and write number sentences to solve problems like this: "Jaxon scored 5 more points than Nik. Nik scored 3 points.
