Bully Free Zone!
Today 2S showed their school spirit and supported Pink Shirt Day by filling our classroom with pink/red shirts!
In the afternoon, we read the story Winston of Churchill, this fabulous story of a polar bear reinforced the concepts of Global Warming that were covered in the IMAX that we saw at the Telus World of Science. Following this story, student brainstormed ways in which temperature changes affect us in our daily lives.

Hot Chocolate Storage Containers!
A huge congratulations to all of the students for a job well done on the construction of their Hot Chocolate Storage Containers. The top containers (it was a tie!), after 2 hours, lost only 30.8 degrees! Some top insulators were: tin foil, cotton balls, dad's fuzzy socks, glass jars, spray foam and styrofoam!
Mmmmm...Hot Chocolate! |

Hot and Cold Fun!
In Science, we have been working through the Hot and Cold Unit. We learned that when we heat potatoes, they change. Not only do they taste better, but they are softer. This change is IRREVERSIBLE.
We also conducted an experiment called "The Great Meltdown" where we competed to see who could melt an ice cube the fastest. The students who used the stragegy of 'put the ice on the heater', won!

A giant shout out to all of the parents who have come to the arena daily to tie skates, skate and cheer on the 2C students! Without you, this amazing physical education opportunity would not be possible.

Skating Week Returns...
Thank you to Mrs. Donofrio, Ms. Murray and Mr. Harstad for their helping hands at the arena today! We are skating tomorrow at 8:35 am, or as soon as we can get there after announcements.
In Science today, we talked about Body Temperature and how it is relatively constant and that a change in it often signals that we aren't feeling well. We are all too familiar with fevers! We also looked at ways in which we could adjust the temperature in our homes.
